Run Run Run

I heard a funny, enlighting, and what will be a very memorable story for all :)

My nephew is on the cross country team and is doing very well. He and his friends were at a meet at decided to go on an adventure collecting golf balls from the pond. After they found some, they found a ball washer & lost track of time. An older "team member" came to inform them their race was going to start in a minute. Being 7th graders, they thought this was a funny joke and slowly walked up the hill to go to their race - well to their surprise they heard the gun fire. OOOPs!!! Missed the race!
They did the right thing and informed the coach that they missed their race. She told them they would have to run on the JV team. Ooops! The JV team doesn't run 1.5 miles, they run 3 miles!!! Guess that's one way to see what the kids can do & boy did he prove himself. 24 minutes!!! I am soo proud of him!
Now is when the realization hits - double edged sword - WOW!!! That was a great idea!
So, lesson learned??? I don't know the answer to that, but I do know that thinking outside the box is a good way to set an example, drill a point through, and use as a teaching tool and its good to hear of others thinking outside the box for a positive outcome :)

Is it School time already??

Yup,
School has begun! Ok, so not really if your thinking of a normal school day. Up to this point we have overall been very fortunate. We are one of the families that has been blessed with basically 24 hour nursing (they may not be in my house 24 hours a day, but they are only a phone call away and have done a wonderful job keeping me calm when I have wanted to freak out over a temp, lack of weight gain, negative response, ect.) We are now lucky in the fact that we are able to add to our team and welcome a teacher and occupational therapist to our world. We had our inital meeting this week and will find out what they feel is a good next step to keep Aine moving in the right direction.
We got did get some more good news today. We get to stop giving Aine antibiotics because her reflux test came back normal. We could still be dealing with slight case of reflux because the test is not 100%, but it would not be anything severe.
Here's hoping the good news continues to come :)

We would like to thank everyone for the prayers that have been said and would like to request a couple extra go out to another heart baby named Ireland. She has a long fight ahead of her & can also use all the angels she can get her pretty little hands onto! Thanks everyone!

Good News :)

It's good to get good news.
Aine is growing very well (4.88 kg -or- about 10#'s 11oz). Her stats are holding steady and she is for the most part in a good mood.
We are continuing to have home visits 2 times a week and doctor visits for the most part once a week.
We have been to the ER room once since her UTI but luckily nothing was found. We went because she popped a temp of 102.6 :( and was a crabby little pumpkin.

As you know we have been working with a wide variety of doctors and at this time, I'm not really sure if there is any category that we haven't talked to. Today we talked to ID (Infectious Disease). Yup, I know I heard some hearts stop with that comment - as did mine the first time I heard that ID visited Aine. But it's all a good thing because they monitor how many T-cells she has and how they function. As we figured Aine's are low so she can get sick a lot faster than the rest of us.

We have been very careful with her up to this point, but all of us are getting our flu shot this year and I have given in and am getting Liam the chicken pox shot. I guess it's true that your life changes 100% once you have a child, and again by 100% when you have a second.

5 Months Old!!

Can you believe that my little girlly is 5 months old!
At least she is home for this milestone & hopefully she will be home for her 6 month & 1 year milestone.
We are currently working on strenghting her neck, arms, and legs. She is doing very well & progressing close to anticipation. We are hoping that we can get her ahead of the game so that when she goes in for her big heart surgery she has less recovery & is nice and strong.
