Just for fun!

On April 2nd (two days before Aine was born) we had pictures taken by Steve Rouch Photography. The pictures (as usual) turned out beautiful!
Here are a few of them.....

God's Cake

So, I took this from a friends post on Facebook, but felt that it was a good thing to put up for our family. & I dont' think she'll mind.
(Thanks Holly Sue!)

Sometimes we wonder, 'What did I do to deserve this?' or 'Why did God have to do this to me?' Here is a wonderful explanation! A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her b...est friend is moving away. Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, 'Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.' 'Here, have some cooking oil,' her Mother offers. 'Yuck' says her daughter. 'How about a couple raw eggs?' 'Gross, Mom!' 'Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?' 'Mom, those are all yucky!' To which the mother replies: 'Yes , all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! ' God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful! God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

Update

Well,
7 weeks old & due for yet another heart surgery.
I talked to the cardiologist today and he said they feel Aine will need to have her pulmonaries rebuilt. They are going to wait until she is 3 kg before they do any further testing on her (she was 2.8 kg this morning). I asked the Dr and he feels she will be at that weight in 7-10 days. At which time they will do additional testing to see how everything is running and looking and will at that time decide what the next plan of attack is. (Surgery wise)

We are hoping it will be an easy procedure and Aine will recover quickly.

Updates will continue as we get them.

God Bless & thanks for the continued prayers.

7 Weeks Old

Aine is 7 Weeks old today!

Wow - does time fly!
If only we knew what is causing her to decrease her oxygen staturation we would be happy.
The doctors have determined that it is not due to her heart problem (they are happy about that), but now they need to figure out what lung function is causing it.
Her G-tube placement surgery was a success, but I have to wait for the surgery team to look at her studies to find out if the nissen is too tight & if it is, what they will be doing about it.

Hopefully soon we will be able to discuss a timeframe of being able to bring our baby girl home.

I will continue to update the blog as we find out information (or when there is more cool stuff our little man does).

Happy Day!

Well...

Whoever deemed the 13th as a "bad" day never had a baby go into surgery that day!

Our darling Aine went into surgery this morning at 7:20 and did great!

She had her G-Tube placed and her Nissen surgery. We are currently in the ICU so she can have individual attention during her recovery after which she will head up to the 6th floor so she can continue to gain weight and finish her recovery.

Liam decided today was the day that he was going to give Aine her first kiss. It took all my strength to not break out into happy tears. After he gave her a kiss, she grabbed his hand & he giggled then made her wave. (Now... Let's see how long that love lasts once he figures out she is here to stay :)-

I can't post pictures from the hospital, so I will be putting a bunch up pretty soon. Sorry for the delay in letting you see our cuties!!
Thanks for all the support & good wishes, we appreciate them ALL!!

5 weeks

i cant believe little aine is already 5 weeks old. we are hoping that sometime soon she will be able to come home.
they are still planning on doing her gvtube and nissen surgery on friday and are very hopeful that this will solve alot of her problems along with help her gain much needed weight.
liam is doing well and having a great time in tumbling and swimming. we are glad that we are able to keep him on somewhat of a schedule.
i dont think he understands yet that she will be coming to stay and he will at some point have to share everything all the time, not just during business hours.

Good News is always the BEST!!

Well,
We are trying not to hold our breath (blue just isn't our color :)- but we finally got some good news!
Aine is holding steady on her weight, and her lung scan came back showing some improvement so they will be holding off on her 2nd heart surgery for now. They will be repeating the lung scan in about 3 months to see how things are looking and make a determination of when they will fix the hole in her heart & if they need to do any additional work on her pulmonaries.
They will be placing the G Tube on Friday (5/13) along with doing the nissen surgery so we are getting close to the time that she will be able to come home! FINALLY!!!!

I will not lie, we are freaking out about the care that she is going to take, but can't wait to finally have her home & not have to deal with all the wires, beeping, and bless their hearts - the nurses & doctors.

Liam has been a trooper during this whole thing & will hopefully do as well once Aine comes home.

Thanks again to every one for your thoughts and prayers, they mean the world to us!
